If you’re looking for a challenge this year then these fab events for a cause could be for you!
Care for a Dip?
There is still time to enter the 2018 Lions Club of Jersey Swimarathon for individuals, families, school groups and companies to sign up to support the work of the community’s carers.
The funds raised from this year’s Swimarathon will benefit five island-based charities: the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation, Headway Jersey, the Jersey Association of Carers, Jersey Child Care Trust and MIND Jersey. All five work to provide individuals and families who find themselves in the need of medical assistance with professionally trained carers who, in many cases, offer daily support to both the patients and their families.
As with previous years, the 2018 Swimarathon will feature the RBC Corporate Cup Challenge, which is awarded to the corporate team that swims the most laps during its 55-minute slot. The Cup has been won consecutively by the Jersey Customs & Immigration Team for the past five years. and they’re hoping that more corporate teams will sign up this year and challenge the reigning champs.
The Swimarathon will take place at the Les Quennevais Leisure Centre from Wednesday 14th to Sunday 18th March 2018.

Pull together
Macmillan Cancer Support (Jersey) is encouraging Islanders to make a New Year’s fitness resolution and sign-up to the charity’s annual indoor Rowathon. Macmillan Jersey’s Rowathon involves teams of six rowers rowing the equivalent distance from Jersey to Sark (30,000m) on an indoor rowing machine. Last year fifty nine teams took part, raising in excess of £40,000 for the charity.
This year’s Rowathon will take place on the 14th April at Les Ormes. Teams can enter the 9am or 1pm sitting and registrations can be made via the Macmillan Jersey website – www.macmillanjersey.com/rowathon. The event is once again being kindly supported by RBS International who have sponsored the event for the past eight years, and their continued support is invaluable in maintaining Macmillan Jersey’s service.
Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey provides support to anyone in Jersey who is affected by cancer, from the moment that a cancer diagnosis is suspected, through diagnosis and treatment, to adjusting to life beyond cancer. The service offers practical information, emotional and group support, as well as a wellbeing service which includes complementary therapies and diet and exercise advice. All services at The Oasis, Macmillan Jersey’s cancer support centre at the Lido Medical Centre, are free of charge.
Feeling extreme?
The third Jersey Round Island Challenge will take place on Saturday 14 July 2018 and will once again include five race categories for adventurers who will either swim, kayak, row, SUP or run around the island, solo or part of a relay team.
So impressive is the challenge that Red Bull UK have listed it as one of the top 11 extreme UK fitness challenges.
The purpose of this exciting endurance event is to raise awareness and valuable funds for the Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation, a local charity that supports families in Jersey with sick children needing treatment in the UK.
