Work? Retreat!

The Atlantic Hotel have created a new structure to tempt us away from the office and into a downward dog….creating a brand new concept that ‘looks at meetings from a new point of view’. The Corporate Retreat package aims to provide businesses with interesting and diverse ways to bring people together to not only achieve their business goals but to take the time to focus on the health and well-being of their team. Boom. Basically; work, eat, yoga, repeat.

The concept, based on four key principles, incorporates the hotel’s unique headland location, its sustainability goals, its partnership with wellness experts, Kalimukti, and Ocean Restaurant’s award-winning food.

Patrick Burke, Owner and Managing Director said:

“In today’s busy world with the emergence of online meetings and remote working, we recognised the need for a concept that allows businesses to escape the buzz of the town centre, to reconnect with colleagues and to provide a little more than just a meeting room. We wanted to invite businesses into the hotel to experience our tranquil coastal location, gourmet food and wellness services as well as providing them with a space in which to work.”

As part of the Corporate Retreat package, meetings are held in the hotel’s Garden Room which opens on to a private area of the terrace with views over the garden and the Atlantic Ocean beyond. Equipped with the latest technology it provides the ideal space for smart working and for connecting with colleagues further afield. The unique location provides the opportunity to take a coffee out onto the terrace or to walk down to the headland where fresh sea air, the sounds of nature and some truly inspiring views provide a welcome break.

Executive Chef, Will Holland has created a series of dishes specifically designed to boost brain power, sustain energy levels and sharpen concentration. The day begins with an awakening turmeric and ginger shot packed full of anti-oxidants and stress reducing properties. The usual carb heavy buffet lunch is replaced with light, protein packed dishes that will help keep teams focused. A mid-afternoon boost is provided with a granola power bar or green machine juice.

The Corporate Retreat package allows for some time to be taken out of the day to refresh and re-focus with a unique break-out session. By partnering with local wellness centre Kalimukti, the hotel provides an experienced instructor to guide teams through a peaceful mindfulness session, empower them with a well-being seminar or relax the body and mind with a group meditation. These sessions allow delegates to bond, socialise and build as a team.

Patrick Burke explained how the hotel’s commitment to sustainability has influenced the
development of this new offering for the corporate market,
“We have embarked on a journey of becoming a more sustainable business, caring for the
environment and giving back to the community. With this in mind we have made some small
changes that we hope will have a big impact. Our meeting room note pads are made from 100%
recycled, FSC certified paper from a supplier that supports the Woodland Trust helping to capture
CO2 and plant trees. Corporate guests are encouraged to play their part by taking away one the
pencils provided and planting the seeds found inside in order to re-wild their own spaces at home
or in the office.”

The Atlantic Hotel’s new Corporate Retreat package is £95 per person.
