17 firms put the Pedal to the Metal with Prosperity 24/7 for Macmillan Jersey and Cancer Research UK

Prosperity 24/7 has recruited 17 corporate teams to take part in their ninth annual charity fundraising event – Prosperity Day –  to raise money for two local charities – Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey and the Jersey Branch of Cancer Research UK.  Over the past eight years, Prosperity and the many corporate teams who have taken part, have helped to raise over £135,000 for local charities.

This year’s event will see participants racing virtually at Prosperity’s new headquarters at Castle Quay, with each team of three competing against their corporate rivals in a fast paced 30 minute stationary cycling challenge.    With a couple of companies in the final stages of signing up, the participating teams are:   Brooks Macdonald, Quilter Cheviot, Barclays, Colin Smith Partners, Style Group, Axis Mason, PWC, Deloitte, Ogier, Mourant, Bedell Cristin, JTC Group, Aztec Group, Highvern, Ports of Jersey, JEC and Islands Insurance.

The first race traditionally starts at 8:30am between Prosperity 24/7 and the two charities and the last race finishes at 4:30pm. Using brand new Wahoo KICKR bikes, the riders will use 3D virtual race technology to take on a gruelling stage of the Tour De France. The final three teams will go ‘head-to-head-to-head’ to see who gets ‘bragging rights’ from the races.

In addition to race performance, there is a second, critical way to gain points and make it to the podium – charity fundraising. It’s not just about speed, but most importantly, the more money raised, the higher up the leader board each team can go with the two leaderboards combined to see who takes first place overall. The winner receives the coveted Prosperity Day trophy to display with pride in their place of work, at the post-race presentation evening.

The companies behind the race day teams are also encouraged to fundraise, to help give their team the best chance on the leaderboard, whether that’s cake sales in the office, shaking a bucket or getting out on a training bike ride with them.

The target for Prosperity is to raise £24,700, with 100% of the money raised, split between the two benefiting charities.  By supporting the event, Prosperity also assists the incredible fundraising efforts, with team members who have run, rowed and of course, cycled an incredible number of miles for these two charities close to their hearts.

Making a difference to the local community is an important part of Prosperity 24/7’s business ethos.

CEO Chris Clark commented, “Prosperity 24/7 feels privileged to be in a position to support our broader community as well as the digital economy, demonstrating how a well-run business can make a positive contribution to the Island we call home. The fundraising element is a really important part of the day, so we want to make sure that the businesses behind each of the teams are doing what they can and encourage colleagues from every business to support their teams both in the build up to the day and they are welcome to come to our office to cheer their colleagues on.”

There is presently only one space remaining. To sign up for the event or to make a charity donation, then visit the Prosperity Day 2023 Race Nation page.  https://race-nation.co.uk/register/prosperity-247/prosperity-day-2023
