Walk on the wild side

Walk on the wild side

Stunning sea views, a wild woodland garden and a setting so peaceful the only passing traffic is a woman out riding her horse.  It sounds idyllic, and that’s even before you’ve walked through the front door of the beautifully redesigned family home.

Originally a 70s style house in need of renovation, the developer has restructured the property, opening up the space, creating new rooms and framing the stunning sea views.  ‘I could see how the layout would work very early on as I walked through the property – I knew how it was going to flow’ she explains.  ‘It used to be a real hotch potch of rooms, and I knew that creating larger living spaces would turn this home into somewhere that suited these amazing views’.

Proportion’s everything at Les Pieces.  Brand new living spaces have been designed to be large and functional, like the main reception room with its working fire and glass bi-fold doors out to the south-facing garden view terrace.  Open the doors and you can walk across to the covered barbecue area, and with the adjoining kitchen’s doors open, it creates a seamless indoor/outdoor space, linking the outside alfresco area with the kitchen and dining room – a great area for parties and large gatherings, or just spending time together as a family.

Les Pieces is perfect as a party house, the kitchen’s been designed for the swishest of supper parties, with Siemems appliances from steam ovens to warming drawers, barbeque griddles to boiling taps and an industrial induction to ensure that food preparation is as smooth and simple as possible.  The outside covered barbecue area and terrace are just a few steps away for outdoor summer eating, and throw open the doors to the dining room, and the open plan kitchen extends into a huge space, all bordered with the glass windows overlooking the garden.

With Sonos systems running through the house, you can control the entire home’s music at the touch of a button. Speakers in every room, from the living areas to the bathrooms will ensure you never miss a track. A separate media room is wired up for the latest in home cinema technology, and it’s been cleverly placed at the side of the house, for films at full volume without disturbing the rest of the house.

The house has been redesigned with easy family life in mind. As well as plenty of storage both inside and out, a sizeable utility room and a walk-in airing cupboard to suit the largest of families, there’s also a downstairs self-contained bedroom suite that could be used as an au pair or granny flat, or simply an additional spare room or a base for home-from-university teenagers.  Upstairs, the four family-sized bedrooms all have ensuite shower and bathrooms, and beautiful views, either across the garden with its mature trees or out to sea.

The real wow factor of Les Pieces comes when you walk into the master bedroom where floor to ceiling glass in the shape of an arch frames the panoramic views perfectly.  On a clear day, you can see straight out to the coast of France.  ‘As soon as I saw the view, I thought wow, I’ve got to frame it’, says the developer.  With a view like that to wake up to, you won’t want to get out of bed.  Flooded with light from the stunning glass wall, the rest of the room is finished in a soft pebble grey that sets off the turquoise of the sea perfectly, keeping the room incredibly easy on the eye and maximizing the view.  The sleek and chic ensuite bathroom has a walk in Matki shower and contemporary large bath for luxury lounging, and there’s plenty of fitted ‘walk-through’ wardrobe storage.

‘It’s such a perfect location’ says the developer. ‘Rozel is just down the hill, with its pubs and places to eat, and there are so many beautiful country walks around’.  With over an acre of gardens and a garage, plenty of parking and outdoor storage for boats, jet skis and quad bikes, it’s the perfect house for a busy family that loves the outdoor life, and loves to make the most of their time at home.  Feeling the call of the wild yet?  We think you should…
