The Collas Crill Island Walk is almost upon us…

With just over two weeks to go until the event, there is still plenty of time to sign up for the Collas Crill Island Walk which is hoping to raise £100,000 this year to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Organisers are hoping that a record number of people will sign up to the walk this year to help them reach their target which will bring the total amount raised over 25 years to £2 million.

The walk, which started out as a personal challenge for founder Paul Owen, has become one of Jersey’s biggest community events and is the most popular walking challenge on the island, with thousands of people taking part and raising money for local charities each year.

This year the Island Walk will raise funds for three local charities; Parkinson’s Jersey, The National Trust and Centre Point.

A new feature of the walk this year will be the relay challenge. For those not quite ready to take on the full 48 miles, there is the opportunity to organise a group of 4 to take part in the relay and walk 12 miles for charity. Collas Crill Joint Senior Partner, Nuno Santos-Costa, hopes that this will encourage even more people to sign up as the walk will becomes more accessible than ever.

“Over time the walk has become so much more than just an event – it is a landmark date in Jersey’s community calendar which many people look forward to, and train for, throughout the whole year. For the walk to have reached its 25th anniversary and to come so close to having raised £2 million is incredible and with the introduction of the relay walk I’m sure that even more people will be keen to take part this year.”

All walkers are encouraged to post selfies and photographs during the walk using the hashtags #ccselfies and #ccislandwalk on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The official walk accounts can be found at:
