We continue in our series of meeting some of the new tenants on the recently opened first floor of 4 Wharf Street. This month we quizzed our former guest designer Ben Clarke who is using it as the location in which to start his new business, Arcade Creative.

Give us a brief description of what you do.
I am the owner of Arcade Creative.
How long ago since you moved into 4 Wharf Street?
I moved in to 4 Wharf Street around 3 weeks ago.
How are you finding it so far?
I’m enjoying working here, although I am here more than I probably should be.
What are the benefits to you?
My business is quite small at the moment so low overheads are an important factor. Working out of 4 Wharf Street means I have all the benefits of a big office without the cost or a restrictive lease.
How many people are employed by your company?
I employ 2 members of staff at the moment.
Do you find having a large variety of other businesses so close by convenient?
As I am pretty new here I am still finding my feet, but I hope to work with other businesses here in the future.
What would you say to someone thinking of moving in?
I think it’s a perfect solution if you are a start-up or an established business with a small team. The stylish decor adds to the vibrant atmosphere which makes it a pleasure to come to work in the mornings.

Absence and fondness

I saw an Instagram reel the other day where the aspiring parent-influencing content creator claimed that holidays aren’t holidays once you have children; you just spend time looking after your kids in a different location. I suppose that’s true, to an extent. Regardless, like many islanders with children, we hot-foot it onto a ferry or plane at half term to make use of those precious moments away from the school run. I’m finishing up this edition while being asked what’s for dinner, but in France. Magnifique.
