Yo.ga : Pi.la.tes

yo·ga ‘yōgə/ noun

a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.

Pi·la·tes pə’lä,dēz/noun

a system of exercises using special apparatus, designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, and posture, and enhance mental awareness.

We gathered together a variety of local yoga and Pilates instructors to show us their moves, as a way to celebrate one of the best ways to spend your solo time.  Whether it’s for relaxation of health and fitness there is a yoga or Pilates move for almost everyone (although the one Trisha from YogaMatters is demonstrating above perhaps isn’t!).  Over the next few pages you’ll see a variety of different positions demonstrated by professionals, so please don’t try these at home but do consider going to attend any one of their classes, as we’re sure it’ll be time well spent.

Be sure to pick up a copy of this months magazine to read more.
