Jason Butler’s Studio, Tuesday 30th September
When the invite to the ‘Travellers’ Private view arrived at the Gallery office, its oversize physical appearance and eerie-looking image of a female cosmonaut certainly piqued our interest. We sent Glen Perotte to shoot Jason for a feature ahead of the show for our last edition, so had a peek and an idea of what to expect. The strong attendance, positive comments and subsequent red dots for Travellers are a testamant to the time and effort Jason pours into his work. The return to figurative work evolves Jason’s ‘Seekers’ from almost a decade ago, combined with the influence of collage and a unique depth of feeling he adds with every brushstroke.
