Highlands College School of Art and Design are delighted to welcome you to this year’s joint exhibition of art and design by the Foundation Degree & Foundation Course Art students.
The Foundation Degree is a part-time course run in conjunction with Plymouth University and runs over a four year period. The course aims at developing local talent and preparing the students for a potential career in the arts. During their time on the course the students learn new practical techniques, business in an art and design context, academic research, how to discuss their work with their peers and much more. They also take on a work placement which allows for a greater understanding of the creative industries.
The Foundation Art Course runs for one year and gives students the opportunity to study a range of artistic disciplines before studying for a degree.
Work on display will include painting, sculpture, graphic design, installation, conceptual, textiles, glass, animation and set design.
Degree Course leader Jason Butler: “Each year the course goes from strength to strength and I am sure the exhibition will reflect that. The students have been a genuine pleasure to work with due to their commitment and dedication both to their own practice and the course as a whole. The fact that there are so many different disciplines and personal approaches on show reflects the fact that there is no ‘house style’ and each student is striving to create their own unique voice.”
The Exhibition is open to the public Tuesday 4th – Thursday 6th June 2013
