Unsung heroes of hospitality were recognised and rewarded last month at the inaugural Jersey Hospitality Association Awards, branded the ‘H-oscars’. Winners included Maria Ivone de Brito, who won the Love Wine Career Achievement Award for her 45 years of dedication and service to the Modern Group.Patrick Burke of the Atlantic Hotel, meanwhile, won the Visit Jersey Island Ambassador Award, for his work in promoting the Island around the world, and Dom Emery picked up the GR8 Recruitment Best Newcomer Award. The Easenmyne Student of the Year was Morgan Gilby, and the Condor Ferries Green Award, for the company that has shown outstanding steps towards becoming more environmentally friendly, was Seymour Hotels. The awards were presented by the Lieutenant-Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton.
