Norman food invasion: delayed.

We’re all used to buying delicious cheese, exciting sausages and fancy biscuits by the kilo(not pound) from French folks at Christmas time. The Norman Market has been gracing our shores over the Christmas period for some time. Well, those hoping to use their ten word French vocabulary this weekend will have to wait un peu.

Due to a boat cancellation, the Norman traders aren’t going to be able to make it as scheduled this weekend. They’re hoping to be with us on Sunday and run until Wednesday instead. So if you’re after some French cashmere jumpers or pick’n’mix giant laces, you’re going to have a wait a few days.

Fortunately, the Simply Jersey Christmas Market continues this weekend with 64 local Genuine Jersey producers all displaying their goods under cover in the biggest local Christmas market we’ve ever had. It’s open from 10am until 6pm on Friday and Saturday and also from 10am until 5pm on Sunday. A worthy weekend shopping alternative!

Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche has been established in Jersey since 1995 and represents two French local authorities; the Normandy Region and the County Council of la Manche. If you fancy working with them in any way, pop in to 71 Halkett Place where Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche can provide information on Normandy for people willing to visit the region and for those willing to participate in any cooperation project with Normandy whether it be discussions on twinning, business, education, culture or sports. It’s good to play with our neighbours!
