Cargo and Santander partner on Work Café

The guys at Cargo have got on board with Santander International running food and beverage services at the new Santander Work Café in Charing Cross in the former Thomas Cook building. When the Santander Work Café opens in January 2021, the building will host five free meeting rooms which can be booked online, fully equipped with state-of-the art conference facilities, and co-working stations that can be used on a first come first serve basis.

The barista area will include freshly prepared food using locally sourced produce created by the Cargo chefs, and Cargo’s sustainably sourced Empire house blend, and seasonal single bean coffee. When paying with a Santander International debit card there will be a 30% discount on hot drinks and 15% on freshly prepared food.

James Pountney, CEO, Santander International, said: “We are delighted to partner with Cargo to create an exciting new food and beverage experience within the Santander Work Café. Cargo shares our vision of the Santander Work Café being a welcoming space for everyone in the community where entrepreneurs or people who work from home can conduct meetings or simply find a quiet spot to enjoy a good coffee and open up a laptop.” Renovations take the building up to the highest standards, offering spacious, well ventilated rooms, accessible bathrooms, and easy-to-clean surfaces.

The Santander Work Café will be Cargo’s third launch in three years, joining The Yard, which opened at Jersey Museum in September, and their first café on The Esplanade. Selda Kumcur, Co-Founder, Cargo, said: “2020 has been a massive year for us and we welcome the opportunity to work with Santander International to bring the Cargo experience to more people in Jersey in this brilliant new location.” Liam Montgomery, Co-Founder, Cargo, said: “Cargo has always believed in supporting ethically-run coffee producers and local food businesses. Santander International immediately got our ethos and we are really looking forward to launching our new venture with them early next year.”

Santander has over 50 Work Cafés in eight countries around the world. As well as the meeting rooms, co-working space, and full café experience, Santander International’s banking customers will be able to meet relationship managers in the building, open and manage accounts, and withdraw money by using an ATM.
